National Children’s Day is celebrated on the second Sunday of June in the U.S. It is a moment to recognize the challenges kids face and our responsibility to help shape a future for them.
This day goes back to 1856 when Reverend Dr. Charles Leonard of Massachusetts dedicated it to baptizing children and addressing their needs. Since then, the meaning has evolved, but its heart remains the same: children deserve care, love, and protection.
One major milestone in global children’s rights was the Declaration of the Rights of the Child adopted by the United Nations in 1959. It laid out children’s rights to education, safety, healthcare, and nurturing environments.
So how can we celebrate? It’s simple: spend time with the children in your life. Go for a picnic, play games, or just talk and really listen. You can also support organizations working to protect and empower children.
“Exergen celebrates National Children’s Day. Children are imaginative, curious, and full of potential. They deserve a world that helps them thrive. Let’s do our part to make it so,” said Dr. Francesco Pompei, founder and CEO of Exergen Corporation. “We invented our non-invasive, user- and patient friendly FDA and CE approved Temporal Artery Thermometers to help caregivers improve the health of children. We are dedicated to changing the way the world takes temperatures, especially for kids.”
