Watertown, MA, January 01, 2026 – Recently, U.S. News evaluated hospitals on maternity and perinatal care, including data primarily self-reported by hospitals, to enhance the transparency of the services provided for uncomplicated pregnancies. Of note 99 percent of the hospitals on this list use Exergen’s award winning Temporal Artery Thermometers and the complete list can be found here. “U.S. News’ Best Hospitals for Maternity Care list plays a critical role in highlighting organizations that are delivering high-quality, compassionate care to mothers and newborns,” said Dr. Francesco Pompei, Founder and CEO of Exergen Corporation. “We are honored that 99 percent of the hospitals recognized on this important list rely on Exergen’s award-winning Temporal Artery Thermometers. Their widespread adoption reflects the trust clinicians place in our thermometers to help them deliver maternity care. Supporting clinicians at these moments of care remains central to Exergen’s mission.” Doctors and nurses prefer Exergen’s Temporal Artery Thermometer because it is clinically accurate, very easy to use, non-invasive, very cost efficient, user- and patient friendly, and improves significantly productivity. The Temporal Artery Thermometers use infrared technology to measure the heat naturally emitting from the skin surface on the forehead specifically from the temporal artery which is positioned 2 mm below the skin. In addition, this method incorporates a patented arterial heat balance system to automatically account for the effects of ambient temperature on the skin. About the Methodology This list uses patient outcomes and hospital process and structure measures to describe quality care. Hospitals are required to meet both geographic and quality criteria to be eligible. During the summer of 2025, U.S. News invited hospitals that offer maternity care to self-report their maternity data to U.S. News via the Maternity Services Survey, hosted on the U.S. News Hospital Dashboard. Data was collected directly from hospitals because quality data available from other sources, such as the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services used for the Best Hospitals rankings, were insufficient on their own to evaluate the quality of maternal andneonatal care, primarily due to the age of the parent. The survey was available for hospitals to participate over two months starting on May 27, 2025.
