Ear Thermometry
LTX Standard
The LighTouch LTX Ear Thermometers accurately measure temperature at the outer part of the ear canal incorporating a patented arterial heat balance (AHB) method. The standard model has a large rounded stainless steel probe tip that never enters the ear canal, for optimum patient comfort, with a recommended age range of 3 years and up. The Pedi-Q has a smaller rounded probe tip, and is sized for use on all pediatric patients. Both models require disposable probe wrap (#128800) or full sheath (#129462).

"These data indicate that, on the average, rectal and ear temperature measurements are not different. Fever that developed in children after hospitalization was more likely to be first detected by ear than by rectal measurement." Loveys et al Clin Pediatr (Phila) 1999 Aug;38(8):463-6.

"Hope for the Infrared Tympanic Thermometer. One Ear Thermometer Outperforms the Others." Modell et al. Southern Med J. Vol.92, No. 7, Jul 1999.
