The worlds
smallest IRt/cs are self powered, with K t/c output. Optics
available are 1:2 (all temperature ranges available) and 4:1 (only
calibrated for K-440F/220C).
For those special
applications where mounting is impossible with standard sized sensors,
the micro IRt/c can go places no other IR sensors have gone before,
with the same high performance as all of the IRt/c products.
There are four
models to choose from:
NOTE:
microIRt/cs have higher impedance than typical IRt/cs,
Smart transmitters are available to linearize and deal with impedance
issues.

TEST
REPORT FOR THE LINEAR RANGES OF THE micro IRt/c's:
Results from linear tests are displayed here, and this information
is useful for the users who are utilizing conventional thermocouple input
devices with the micro IRt/c's. With an impedance range of 15 - 40 kohms,
we recommend using input devices with less than 1 nanoamps of leakage
current to minimize offset errors. For programmable input device users,
the linear range can be increased, and the custom tables can be used.
The published tables are only good for ambient temperatures close to 25C,
if the ambient temperatures change, the accuracy will maintain at temperatures
close to the calibration point. Outside that range the accuracy will not
hold, and custom tables can be generated for varying ambient temperatures
upon request (contact industrial@exergen.com for more info).
TIPS
FOR CHECKING YOUR INPUT DEVICE FOR USE WITH THE HIGH IMPEDANCE µIRt/c:
Simply add a 60 kohm resistor across the + and - of the t/c input leads,
of your input device. If the device reads close to the correct ambient
temperature, it's good to go. If it reads higher than the correct ambient
try to correct for it via an OFFSET. If you can, then it's OK for use.
If you can't then the device is not compatible. If it reads open circuit
or sensor break, then the device can not be used.
FOR
OEM'S AND DESIGNERS:
Since the µIRt/c has high impedance, schematics
are available to transform the impedance from high to low.
FACTORY RECOMMENDED
COMPATIBLE OPERATIONAL AMPLIFIERS: The Linear Technology LTC2054/LTC2055s
are Single/Dual Micropower Zero-Drift Operational Amplifiers. The leakage
current is 1 pA, which makes it a perfect amplifier for the microIRt/c
(and all other IRt/cs). Click here for
the data sheet.
MV
OUTPUT TABLES:
To expand the linearization of the uIRt/c over a wider temperature range,
use these tables with your programmable
input devices.

EUROTHERM
CONTROLS ADDS SPECIAL CONTROLLERS FOR HIGH IMPEDANCE µIRt/c TO THEIR
PRODUCT LINE:
The 2132 and 2116 controllers can be ordered with the sensor break detection
removed - The specials number is 'EU0533'. This must entered at the end
of the hardware ordering code (i.e. order as (2132 or 2116)/CC/(VH or
VL)/ENG/OP1 code/OP2 code/EU0533.). For pricing info contact Eurotherm
at: (703) 443-0000 or via their website:

FILES FOR EUROTHERM CONTROLLERS:
The complete list of µIRt/c mtb files for downloading to the Eurotherm
2132 and 2116 controllers. For the users with itools and Series 2000 configuration
stations, you can easily download the custom curve for these sensors.
The file will be identified to be viewed as a parameter on the controller
by U***, where the *** will be the calibration temperature (for example
µIRt/c-K-180F/90C is U180).
